Jack Support Plate Studies

ANSWER THE QUESTION...

I’m not sure about this design, but I’m running out of time. Should I wait or should I go ahead and take the time to run some analysis on it?

Towards the end of the design cycle, we were running close to our deadlines and had a couple more items to review and analyze. Given the speed at which we can evaluate the performance of our designs, we were able to quickly run some studies of the jack support plate. To our surprise, the original design would have caved like a cheap suit. We made some modifications to the thickness and length, and then added some material under the support holes. By avoiding shortcuts and risks, we were able to produce a design stout enough to withstand even some of the most extreme load cases.
