Case Study: Process and Development

UC Davis River Truss Requirements

The University of California Davis Department of Land, Air, and Water Resources staff has the inspiration...

...using resources that were readily available at the university, Professor Greg Pasternack developed a prototype truss for the study of watershed hydrology. Though the truss allowed him to begin to take data at relatively small and mild river flow locations, it was evident that further development of the system was necessary to readily engage his research. The prototype truss was cumbersome to set up and operate. The data gathering process was slow and labor intensive - and given it’s severe operational limitations, Prof Pasternack understood that he needed to partner with seasoned mechanical design and automation experts.
